  • Minibar plastic bottles replaced with aluminium cans
  • Replaced plastic pens with a biodegradable paper-based product used in our conference & event spaces

We’re building sustainability into the way we update and run the hotel:

  • Energy-efficient LED lighting with motion sensors in smaller spaces
  • Electric vehicle charging stations for guests
  • High-efficiency appliances installed during upgrades
  • Air conditioning systems with low impact refrigerants
  • Switching from water-cooled to air-cooled chillers to save water
  • Landscaping with native, drought-tolerant plants

Internally, we foster a culture of environmental stewardship through regular training, team engagement and community collaboration.

Our team can also choose to participate in the EVT Stretch Contributions program, donating a portion of their weekly pay to charitable organisations, including biodiversity conservation funds such as RSPCA and WWF Australia.

Playing Our Part

Playing Our Part

We’re choosing to respond to a changing climate, empower our people and customers to take...

We’re choosing to respond to a changing climate, empower our people and customers to take part, and share our progress along the way. So far, we have:

  • Made towel and linen reuse available in every room by introducing an incentive called ‘Go Green’. This initiative is to encourage guests to say ‘no thanks’ to housekeeping, with a $10 food & beverage voucher each night a guest chooses to help us to reduce water and energy consumption.
  • One key is provided to guests, due to the power slot for the guest rooms, helping to reduce the power & A/C need in rooms when not occupied.
  • Seeking to add more defined bins around the property and guest rooms, to separate waste more efficiently.
  • Organics waste bin mandate launching 1 July 2026, helping to reduce landfill by effectively managing organics.

You can help

Join us in choosing to protect our environment

We encourage our guests to choose to support sustainable tourism through the following simple actions:

  • Use water efficiently and choose to skip linen changes to save water and energy. Each time you say ‘no thanks’, you’ll get a $10 food & beverage credit to use during your stay.
  • Use energy efficiently and when leaving your room choose to make sure all lights, air conditioners and devices are switched off.
  • Never litter and recycle where you can. Atura Blacktown separates general waste, organic waste, cardboard and paper, plastic bottles and cans, and we crush glass bottles onsite.
  • Use reusable water bottles to minimise use of single use plastics bottles and try to use reusable grocery bags when you go shopping.
  • Reduce emissions, meet the locals and immerse yourself in the culture by using public transport. If renting a car, opt for smaller, more fuel-efficient vehicles or hybrid or electric vehicles. EV charging facilities are available at the Atura Blacktown car park.
  • Atura Blacktown does not sell any souvenirs but encourages guests to consider the origin of items when purchasing souvenirs while travelling and to avoid purchasing any heritage artefacts or items derived from rare or threatened species.
As an EVT Hotel, Atura Blacktown is committed to doing business in a way that contributes to a better tomorrow for our customers, our communities and our environment.
